Oh, dear lord. We have two shelties and if they ever start barking this much, I’m either going to put them up for adoption or sign myself up for “learn to be a good pack leader” class. Our tri-colored likes to spin in circles, but we don’t encourage it — poor things are going to have a heart attack!

haha so basically the story is: everything drives these shelties crazy! they’re so funny! I had a Sheltie, and she was much more shy than these fellows, but one funny crazy habit was that she’d always bark out of control if we sang “Happy Birthday.”

Thanks for the comment. Yes, my dogs also react to many of those same things as well. Doorbells, blenders (or any electric appliance), feeding the humming birds etc. Perhaps I’ll do a sequel!

This is hilarious! Makes me feel a little better about Ricky’s behaviors! He goes crazy at paper towels and spray bottles, the mail, getting your shoes ready to put on, cars!, getting salad fixings out of the fridge, my purse, me saying I’m going to take a shower….well the list could go on and on! I think it’s interesting that shelties have evolved neural “programs” they can’t control even in domestic situations. They think some piece of wood is a cat even though it doesn’t look like one and they run around in circles “herding” even if they’ve never herded in their life.

Actually, they also go nuts at the doorbell and at meal time as well but I tried to keep it down to the top 10. If I showed everything that set them off it would have been a feature length film. lol. As for the neighbors, they have adopted them as their grandpuppies so no worries.

ARF! ARF! Wow, your shelties are the most spinningest, barkiest Shelties I’ve seen in some time! LOL I have three Shelties and one (PIlot) loves to bark at the garbage bags too but I’ve worked hard to stop any excessive barking with other triggers and he’s pretty good for the most part. You didn’t show what your guys do when the doorbell rings or at feeding times - those are biggies at our house. Just wondering, do your neighbors ever complain?

This is so funny! My family has a sheltie too, named Daisy. She barks at the most crazy things! She loves to bark at aluminum foil, thats what all of our family friends know of her. She runs around our kitchen’s island when we just open the cabinet where the aluminum foil is. she also bites at the water coming out of the hose, the vacuum. and garbage bags. and oh yeah, she also barks when you seperate paper plates and pour coffee into the coffee maker
